“OK place but have eaten better Sushi”
We have tried the Meijin during our stay in Beppu. There is the Kamesho Sushi a few hundred meters further down the street and Kamesho was definitely a better choice for us. Meijin was supposed to be a running sushi but the belt was empty. But there were not many people so it also makes sense as t...he place is very big /belt is very long and it would have been a lot of waste. There is nothing in English. Also the staff does not really speak English. But this was actually the fun part we liked the most. You order on a touch screen, all in Japanese but with plenty of pictures and I guess not that hard to figure out. After the order, the food comes with a shinkansen train to your table. Again, very fun experience. But the Sushi was not very good. Seems very industrialized. Taste was ok but nothing I would recommend. E.g, The salmon did not look very appealing. But it was in the end also very cheap but cheap is not everything... If you look for a sushi place, there are definitely better places in town.

“Not tasty at all”
This was the first disappointing restaurant in Japan. We went through the place and read good reviews from TripAdvisor and decided to come in. Lots of locals (that is true) but the place was smelly and food was industrial and not tasty. Although the price is cheap the whole experience doesn't wort...h the money.

“Nice and very good place.”
Crowded place but not taking long in waiting. A bit difficult to non Japanese speaking as no English available. All you have to do is booking the table or stool. The order made on touch screen at the table in which the Sushi will be delivered via speed train to your table. Or you can wait and look f...or what they offer on the track.

“Good value for money”
The sushi is cheap and this place is very busy with locals. There are many selection for sushi but limited for sashimi. The price is really affordable.

“Tasty sushi for 100 yen / dish. Wow...”
Another chain restaurant in Kyûshû, Japan. This time, it's the concept of a real suhsi-ya with the kaiten and special orders, with a mere 100 yen (+ tax) for a dish of two pieces. Normal for Japan, such a high quality sushi for that price is impossible in Europe. The sushi are fresh, tasty and feat...ure the right proportion of rice and fish. You can take what's on the kaiten (conveyor belt) or press the bell to order something more specific. The service is very good, the atmosphere is more than nice and last but not least you have free all-you-can-drink green tea. Drinking water and a place to wash your hands are also on the picture. Recently, a funny mini-car brings you your order. Some dessert are also on the menu but it's the sushi that are the real star here. Nothing to complain about, except maybe that it would be perfect if they stayed open a bit later at night.
