“One of the best resturants ”

During my visit in tokyo I came twice to the resturant with my sister because we really enjoyed in the first time! The food is great and the service is even better, we had the same chef twice and he was really nice, even gave us tips for our stay in tokyo. We ordered set of 150 gr steak, and added... aspargus and benny hanna's special fried rice (with extra charge) and it was worth it! Highly recommend the resturant and thank you chef!

“Benihana while in Tokyo...”

I made it my agenda to visit Benihana the day I landed in Japan. Having tried the Dubai , Abu Dhabi & Pattaya counter parts, I couldn't wait to compare it to the original one in Tokyo. Exterior & interior wise , it was very far fetched as this one is outdated compared to the contemporary designs of ...the ones I've been to. Teppanyaki Menu is very simple & straight forward and yes, it was pricey which is typical Benihana. Service was good although not as warm as I expected but they tried their best as I can see. I was a bit disappointed not to see how a Japanese teppan Chef would do his show but then the Chef made up to it with his perfectly cooked seafood, wagyu & the fried rice was amazing end.Overall, the experience was worth it for a big Benihana fan like me. Thank you so much!!!

“Too spicy, too pricey: Take a pass on the "western cuisine" here”

Visited for a business lunch, we arrived about 1:00pm; getting a table was easy. It was my first time to try Benihana in Japan, having eaten at an overseas location once or twice over the last 20 years. In fact, until recently I wasn't even aware of the Japan outlet. The building itself is in a... nondescript back alley in the old mercantile district of Nihonbashi, located a ~3 minute walk from Nihonbashi station, maybe 3 minutes from the Nihonbashi bridge itself. The part of the restaurant where we ate was the "western" section, upstairs, where the decor was quite old and -- dare I say it...? -- fairly shabby. Authentic, but well past its prime. The waitress arrived quickly to take our order; the service was crisp, but not warm. Reportedly the place is famous for its cocotte curries, and so I tried the Shrimp version. I'm sure there is spicier food available in Japan and elsewhere, but if you like spicy food, this place is going to be right up your alley. Now don't get me wrong - I like a good bit of spice for flavor, but as I ate, the curry was literally burning my mouth in a way that I haven't experienced in years. It took me a long time to eat the meal, and it wasn't that enjoyable. There were three in our party--one who loves the hottest curry she can find, and she was absolutely over the moon; the two others of us were very uncomfortable with the level of spice. I made a mistake with the curry, lesson learnt. I'd suggest steering clear of it unless you really like it "dialed up." And if that's the case, you may enjoy. Otherwise, there are other dishes here: pizza, pasta, salads, meat and fish, and omu-rice (sort of like an omelette served over rice). However, the real issue is not so much the spice, more about price. As of this writing, the curries will set you back 1600-2000 yen, and that's without a drink (you're going to need one...!). The other lunch options run 1000-3500 yen, but the average is around 1600 yen, which isn't cheap. In this price range, there are better options in the neighborhood (and beyond), including the basements (depa-chika) of Takashimaya and Mitsukoshi that are within 5 minutes walk and several local eateries where you can eat food that is healthier and/or tastier for less money, in some cases much less. If your budget allows this level of spend, Marunouchi is 15 minutes walk or one stop on the subway. So, in the end, there isn't a complelling reason to eat here. The food was mediocre, staff service was average at best, in an old setting, for prices well above where they should be. No value, nothing special, many much more appealing options nearby. Unless you have sentimental attachments, I skip the western menu/section of the restaurant--it's a rip off. Can't speak to the teppanyaki part of the restaurant and the performance, which may be great entertainment and all. But not the western meals, which Benihana calls "Western Cuisine" on its website. I wish I could be more positive, but hopefully this helps.

“The name is an error! This is a Benihana!”

This may even be the original Benihana! I love the show but most Americans may be disappointed to find that they came all the way to Japan to eat at a large chain available through out the U.S.. It's a birthday favorite at home but When I travel I prefer to eat and go places that Are exclusive to my... travel location.
