和牛焼肉ブラックホール 新宿三丁目店

This is a story about judging a book by its cover. Like others, we’d walked passed the Black Hole many times and dismissed it because if the external advertising and the restaurant name- it’s such an appealing name. Anyway, our hotel recommended it for NYE dinner and made a booking for us. I’m glad ...they did. We loved the whole experience Black Hole provided. We could have asked for better food or service and the price was great value.

The meat is great - as is the serving. Good ventilation means you won't smell like you've slept in a deep fryer afterwards. Ambiance is good and the staff are polite and helpful.

We walked past this place many times while we were in Shinjuku. I dismissed it because of the external advertising. On our last night, we were looking for a bbq place. We were willing to spend a fair bit of money. The highly rated restaurants were all booked out. We were able to get a booking here a...nd the TripAdvisor ratings were very good. It turned out to be fantastic. You get a table that is curtained off to form your own room. The bbq is heated up ready to go. We ordered 5 individual meat dishes and 2 vegetable dishes. One of us also had the steak tartare. You cook your own meat. There is salt, pepper and a few dressings to put on your cooked meat. I loved adding just the salt. The taste was amazing. With 2 drinks each, the meal came to $75aud per head. I thought it was great value. I thought the flavor was amazing. I’m sure there are even higher quality beef restaurants around, but this was a great choice for us.

I’ll be honest... yes it is priced higher than your average Japanese sushi or Ramen place etc... but honestly if your going to a BBQ restaurant your going for the experience, it is worth the extra money. If your expecting a slab of steak then you really have the wrong idea. You are served with tend...er, thin sliced beef (your choice of cuts etc...) for the two of us we ordered 3 different types of beef, a vegetable side and kimchi side. It was Plenty of food, my partner is a big eater so trust me it was enough. The staff are amazing! Some have limited English, but it is Japan! You have to expect that. There is an English version of the menu so no worries there at all. We would highly recommend to anyone wanting to try something Japanese besides sushi, ramen etc... it was amazing. If you say the beef wasn’t good quality... it’s because you are over cooking it! Trust me. I don’t eat rare beef but this stuff was amazing lightly cooked. Oh and the kimchi was fabulous! Best one I’ve had in Japan so far!

My wife and I booked a table at the Back hole for dinner last night. We had an excellent meal, great cuts of meat, chicken and ripper vegetables. eg mushrooms pumpkin onion etc. Cook your own at your pace. Found a nice Aust Riesling on the wine list to go with it. cost about the same as good night o...ut in Perth. We would certainly recommend this restaurant but do book.
