So this is a combined occasion review. My first visit to Oak Door was with my partner on Thanksgiving. The appetizer spread was delicious, and one could order extra helpings of sides if one so wished. The turkey was decent, but my only critique is that I wish they had asked if I preferred white m...eat or dark meat, as I felt that they gave me a larger helping of dark meat and I really don’t care for dark meat that much. The service was excellent throughout the dinner, from the overall attentiveness to the attention to detail. For an extra 5,500 yen one may also add the drink course which I highly recommend. It was an excellent Thanksgiving dinner, and even if you’re not from the U.S., I would recommend giving it a try if you’re in Tokyo during around the holidays for the overall experience and ambiance. I enjoyed the Thanksgiving dinner so much that my colleague and I decided to go back to try the Oak Door’s famous brunch. All-in-all, it was very good. Basically you get unlimited appetizers, which are actually pretty generous in portion, and then you choose a main course as well as dessert. For my main I ordered the fish (which I believe was seabass?), and my colleague ordered the burger and fries. My fish was good, although cold have used a little more flavor, but given that I had filled up on champagne and appetizers I didn’t have much room for a larger main course. I tried a bit of the burger which was honestly too well done for my taste (and I generally prefer my burgers more well done than I would eat a steak). Free flow drinks are included for 90 minutes as well, which is a good deal, but the service this day was not nearly as attentive as my Thanksgiving dinner experience and more than one point we had to get a manager to come over to take our order. All the staff were extremely polite and even apologetic, but it wasn’t as good as Thanksgiving – not sure if they were short staffed or what, but the service could have been better. Overall, we still enjoyed it and I would definitely go back. The atmosphere is also very elegant, you definitely feel like you’re eating in an upscale dining establishment as should be the case given the premier address of the Grand Hyatt Roppongi.

The Oak Door Steakhouse After being in Tokyo for 8 days, we decided to have a nice steak dinner at our hotel restaurant ( we stayed 8 nights at Grand Hyatt Tokyo) for our dinner, we order the YAMAGATA A5 TENDERLOIN 山形牛A5テンダーロイン 20,900 170g / 6oz ( a là cart ) I copy exact word from their menu, I ...asked for MEDIUM RARE - the manager on duty Samual took our order and he spoke English very well, no confusing here ( also ordered king crab, Ceasar salad .. ) Anyhow when the steak came out I was totally shocked because I was expecting the red color with marble fat inside and juicy A5 steak.. Oh no. It’s just a small dark almost look burned block of meat, not even look like 170 grams of steak! We ordered the top 5 famous Japanese Wagyu JAMAGATA A5 quality meat and this is what we got ?? Not only the amount of money we paid but ruined our last night and impression of the top tier restaurant in the area also such a nice recommended from hotel staff !! Bummer !!! Samuel, restaurant manager on duty came by to assured we got the right steak. But I don’t think so! I felt cheated ! As everyone know, specially in Japan, you don’t over cook A5 Wagyu ever !! Please check your chef skills and also attitude of restaurant management. We paid in full and very unhappy leaving without a concern of comfort from the restaurant manager Samuel (Monday night November 18, 2024) Hyatt Lifetime Globalist guests with Hyatt over 22 years. The staff is incredible and the wagyu steak was seriously the best on earth! It did not wow us when it came to the table but one bite and you have a core food memory! MIWA was the best server ever! She was so good we kept coming back and even left us a sweet note on our last day. That woman went... the extra mile!

Had private room for 7 - food was amazing - everything cooked perfectly Tenderloin and The Tomahawk Steak were both cooked perfectly The staff where amazing - the Spanish waiter was first class - very professional and friendly and nothing too much trouble Highly recommend

The entire experience was super enhanced by their great service. Mr. Samuel Garcia was very attentive and friendly and it was such a joy to have him help with our food and drinks selection.
