築地寿司清築地新館

We came here a bit late but when having agreed to accept "last order 20:30" we were seated at the counter. To the right we had neighbours from Japan, to the left a Swedish family of 5 and right in front of us busy but easygoing sushi chefs... The food was perfect - we started with sashimi and then o...rdered sushi (mostly Nigiri freshly prepared from the "raw material" on display) until we just couldn't eat any more of it. It was so fingerlicking good. I would actually call it the best we've had so far! All who stayed till closing time got served some hot tea in the end. And then one of the Japanese at the far end of the counter started singing a song with another man sitting on our right and one of the chefs joining him. The lady sitting next to me explained that all three were from Nagano and that we had just heard a traditional from this prefecture. We came back for another dinner two days later - no singalong but again a nice atmosphere and high-quality sushi!

We were hankering for an omakase brunch. I remembered there was this row near two kitchen knife stores (one is Seizuke, my favorite Japanese knife maker). It’s hard enough to get lost in the little alleyways of wares and food stands. But we found this understated on the outside but simply great nig...iri sushi place. We ordered the “Leave it to me!” choice. We ate as the chef prepared his 12 different selections for the day. The seafood was fresh. The Even the unagi was not overpowering nor too salted or sweet but mild and tender. The crab leg was succulent and sweet. My only lament is that the rice lacked fragrance and natural sweetness that I have tasted from other sushi places. Could it be that the nationwide shortage in rice has affected sourcing consistent sushi rice? Also, it pays to know not to go to a sushi place where tourists are accompanied by tour guides. We happened to be there when there were 4 small groups. It makes for a noisy environment when they’re all speaking at the same time. Not sure why they think they have to speak loudly. Surely, most tourists are not deaf.

We really enjoyed this restaurant that we just came across by chance. It’s ranked as 1000 something - but really deserves to be higher up there. Sushi was really fresh and good - and service perfect. There was a lot of regular clients coming this evening - and that is always a good sign.

After going to the Tsukiji Market and Fish Market to explore, shop, and take pictures, we decided to try Tsukijisushisei for an early lunch. We got seats at the counter, right in front of the four sushi chefs, and were able to watch them prepare the dishes, and take pictures and videos, as well as ...eat. Great experience. I’ve never been a “sushi guy” but it was good even for me. My wife says it was the best she’s ever had.

Heard the name from Tripadvisor including the possible waiting time made us curious about this place. After waiting for about 30 minutes, we had opportunity to sit around the sushi bar and enjoy the sashimi and sushi served fresh by three chefs. Yes, we were satisfied with its taste, freshness of th...e sashimi and sushi. The price is also reasonable.
