My girlfriend and I spent an absolutely incredible evening here on May 29, 2026, and it easily stands out as one of the most memorable dining experiences we have eve...r had. From the moment we walked in, the wholesome, family-run atmosphere of the restaurant wrapped around us like a warm embrace. Led by the immensely talented Head Chef, Mr. Mitsuhide Muto, alongside his mother, this team has managed to strike the perfect balance between high-end culinary execution and cozy, down-to-earth hospitality. The Culinary Journey: A Tribute to Tachikawa We ordered the beautifully presented 9-course meal, which was a true love letter to the Tachikawa region. What makes Teppanyaki Senju so extraordinary is their unwavering dedication to hyper-local sourcing. Almost every single course was crafted using ingredients procured directly from the local community. It was a joy to taste the freshness of the region in every bite, knowing the exact provenance of the vegetables and local elements on our plates. There were, however, two incredibly worthy exceptions to this local rule: The Wagyu Steak: Cooked to absolute, melt-in-your-mouth perfection on the teppan grill. It was deeply marbled, exceptionally rich, and undoubtedly one of the finest cuts of beef we’ve ever tasted. The Fragrant Wine: A beautifully selected, highly aromatic pairing that complemented the richness of the steak and elevated the entire meal. A Homemade Masterpiece While every dish was spectacular, one humble side-dish completely stole the show: Chef Muto’s mother’s potato salad. It is, without a fraction of exaggeration, the absolute best potato salad I have ever had in my life. It managed to be both comforting and refined, a testament to the family recipes that anchor this restaurant's identity. Unmatched Hospitality & A Lifelong Memory What truly elevates Teppanyaki Senju from a great restaurant to an unforgettable one is the family's genuine warmth. They treated us not just as patrons, but as welcome guests in their home. As foreign visitors who do not speak Japanese, we were incredibly touched by how effortless they made everything feel. There were absolutely no communication issues throughout the entire night; the staff's warmth, attentiveness, and patience transcended any language barrier, making us feel completely at ease. To top off an already perfect evening, the staff surprised us at the end of the night by presenting us with a beautifully framed picture of us at our table to memorialize our evening. It was an incredibly thoughtful, class-act gesture that we will cherish for all time. The Verdict Teppanyaki Senju is a rare gem. Chef Mitsuhide Muto’s masterful teppanyaki technique, combined with his mother's culinary touches and their shared dedication to the Tachikawa community, makes this a must-visit. This is a hidden gem but absolutely the best Waygu I have ever had! The chef cooked everything right in front of us and it was cooked to perfection. I will be visiting Japan again in a few months and this is on my must list! 20/10.
