“Easy Meal ”
If you like a quick authentic meal in a fast food setting, Matsu No Ya is a great place to be here. Free seating so a party of more than two may have to wait first come first served basis. Wait could be long for the meals to be prepared “made to order” in order to enjoy your authentic katsu fresh!

“Cheap & tasty family restaurant ”
In an area with several expensive dining options, Matsunoya stood out for us as it was a well priced restaurant serving Katsu. The standard katsu was tasty and tender, and the restaurant clean and relatively spacious by Japanese standards. Ordering through the vending ticket machine was painless. Be...st of all, you could help yourself to endless helpings of extra rice, miso soup and green tea. The only downside is if you’re travelling in a group of more than 4 people you will need to split up.

“24 Hours of Goodness”
Great Tonkatsu choices in traditionally Japanese style. Small dinning area so groups over 4 people would have a hard time sitting together. All orders are done by vending machine and the servers pick your ticket up from your table.

“Simple Yet Wonderful”
There are many seafood restaurants in Sapporo but not Tongkatsu. This is a great lace to be. You have a choice to choose thicker slices by pay slightly more. Clean place. Only issue is the self ordering vending which you may take a while to understand the process. English version available.

“BARGAIN PRICE FOR QUALITY TONKATSU!”
For those of us from Hawaii, we know good tonkatsu -- and let me tell you, ALL of the tonkatsu dishes at Matsunoya are excellent. We ordered by vending machine, gave our tickets to the kitchen help, and served us some cold or hot tea and sat in air condition on a warm August afternoon. The food was... delicious and you can buy items ala carte or as a "set" (with soup, japanese pickles, and rice). I would have loved eating there two or three more times, but there was so much else to do in Japan, that I only got to eat there twice. I paid what would easily have cost double in Hawaii and not taste as good. Bargain price for quality food, for sure.
