YEBISU BAR 京都ヨドバシ店

Tried this place while roaming around Kyoto tower area on our first evening in the city. Outside sitting was wonderful, beer was well served and food bites were delicious. Overall a good place to soak in the vibes of the city and relax while having drinks.

We just went for a couple of beers on a very hot day in Kyoto. Went around 3:00pm on a Thursday and were seated immediately. It was not crowded, but there were definitely other groups of locals there having a nice time. The beer was great and the servers were friendly.

Walking by we decided to put our name on the waitlist as this bar & restaurant looked the goods. After a 25 minute wait we were seated outside in the non smoking area as requested. All the ordering is done on an iPad looking device. When you have finished your meal & want to leave you take the devic...e up to the counter & pay the bill. Service was fast & friendly. Pricing was reasonable, but the portion sizes were very small. The fried sardines were great, however the rest of the food was average. The sauerkraut servings were the size of a tablespoon. The tuna dish tasted terrible. Definitely not worth the wait, we should’ve just strolled on by. The experience of sitting outside watching the Kyoto world go by enjoying a nice drink & lovely meal didn’t eventuate.

Needed to take a short break from Japanese food, and the 3 Yebisu sausages were just the thing. Prepared just right, came with a (too) small dollop of sauerkraut and a spoonful of mustard. In Japan, mustard is usually seen as a decorative garnish rather than the key ingredient that balances the fat..., heat, acid and salt of the meat. Also, needed to order the carbs extra. Beer was good.

It is almost like a Japanese version of Tapas. It's a handy spot for a drink and some snacks if ur peckish Food is served quick and hot Staff friendly, moderate English
