DONNAGOLOSI

I had a very fantastic lunch here. We had the tomato and mozzarella appetiser. The tomato’s were so fresh. We had the steak, duck and finished with the best carbonara I had for a few years. It was very authentic and no cream was used, only cheese and eggs. Had a 3 hour lunch and countless champagne.... I love this place. Service was very good too.

The antipasti with beef stuns. Delicious. The crab meat pasta is ok. The BBQed pork steak is really tasty. The service staff is not attentive as you would see in other restaurants in Japan. In addition, there is no bread served before dinner, which is a bit surprising for me.

After a brilliant but long day of cycling in Kyoto and trekking through hills and busy streets we were delighted to return to Osaka's Grand Front shopping center for a familiar and simple dinner. I have to admit I was very impressed with Grand Front and the easy floor maps, and I loved how the res...taurants all converged on the 7-9th floors. However I'm not sure we chose the greatest option that was available to us. We chose Donnagolosi because there wasn't a queue lined up outside the area, but that should have been a tell-tale sign. We were ushered in and seated promptly, the service was exactly what you'd expect in Japan - exemplary. The three of us were tired, only glancing at the dinner menu before wanting to order their special offer - unfortunately everything was written in Japanese, which is possibly where our misunderstanding came from, but as we ordered 3 set meals of pasta and pizza it soon became apparent that we were getting 3 dishes, plus a salad, rather than the six we'd discussed. Of course our eyes were bigger than our stomachs - a day of cycling will do that to you - and the 3 dishes plus a large salad was more than enough. However it would have been nice to have understood the menu and how the dinner special worked before we'd ordered. The food itself - lasagne, meat pizza and crab and tomato pasta were all relatively tasty. The latter was the favourite out of the three, but I would have been intrigued to try an additional pasta. Overall it was well organized, simple, tasty and gave us exactly what we needed at that moment in time, though I'm not sure it's somewhere I would ever choose to go again.

Donnagolosi is located in a newly opened Grand Front Osaka complex. So, it is very easy to access from Osaka Station. The restaurant is clean and comfortable. This time I just took spaghetti Bolognese and a glass of wine, but so far they were perfect. I would like to return again to try some other ...dishes.
