中之島 SOCIAL EAT AWAKE

Wonderful restaurant with Japanese and Italian food, extremely friendly and hepful staff, inside but also outside terrace in the evening.

Had some dessert and coffee at the restaurant during a design conference which was being held upstairs this November. The interior of the cafe/restaurant is nicely done. That also goes for the whole building itself.

This is said to be a new restaurant opened recently on the basement floor of the Osaka-shi Chuo Kokaido (Osaka City Central Auditorium) in the Nakanoshima district near Osaka City Hall. It’s a short walk of about 6 to 7 minutes from Osaka Subway Yodoyabashi Station or Keihan Railway’s Kitahama Stat...ion. We had lunch at 12:00 on Tuesday and we didn’t have any seating issues, but the staff strongly recommended making a reservation for dinner and for lunch and dinner on weekend. Their menu is arranged to offer a set lunch or set dinner. Both have usually four or five selections of starters and mains to choose from. The restaurant boast their beer selection; some twenty craft beers from many parts of Japan and abroad. Their wine selection was not great, but quite decent. We enjoyed the food and a relaxed lunch time of about two hours without being disturbed by the restaurant staff. The Osaka City Central Auditorium was fully restored to the current condition in 2002; fully earthquake proof and accessible to the handicapped people.
