焼肉 五味屋

This restaurant is wedged in between others along a very popular arcade. They advertise Kobe beef, but I would be a bit suspicious of whether this is true. The interior is pretty dark and the staff are not too welcoming, likely as they don't speak English nor have menus in English. They have some p...hotos in the menu, so you can point and smile. It's not the simplest place for a non-Japanese person to order, but be persistent. I had a steak and bottle of sake for dinner. They brought a grill to me to cook it myself, which I enjoyed. The meat, although maybe not true Kobe, was absolutely delicious. They served the beef with a couple of sauces which added a great umami flavour to the meat. By itself, the meat I would not say was melt-in-your-mouth but it was much richer than the normal beef I'm used to. For the price (about 4,500 yen) I think it was an excellent dinner, regardless of where the beef was from. I'd come back here easily next time I'm in Himeji.

Doesn’t allow western people, told us it was full while there were plenty of seats available.. sad to see this.
