We enjoyed everything about this restaurant! The hostess greeted us on the street as we exited our taxi and warmly welcomed us into the restaurant. The service was amazing and very attentive. Although there were some language barriers because we only speak English, our server communicated with us we...ll through some English and a translation app. Considering we knew no Japanese, she did a fantastic job communicating with us and helping us understand the food better. The food itself was incredible. It was very simple, refreshing, and surprising. We tasted many new flavors, and every dish in the eight courses was delicious. Some dishes like our tipping course and the baked course had exciting and bold flavors, while the tempura and pot rice courses focused on celebrating the beauty of simple ingredients. The timing of these courses was also immaculate. The food came out hot and fresh at the perfect time after each course. We overall loved our dining experience here and think it was well worth the stop. We would highly recommend going here. We also reserved our table through byFood because we do not have Japanese phone numbers and do not know Japanese. Although there was a significant booking fee, we were happy that it locked in a reservation at such an amazing restaurant.

We had a lovely dinner in mid December at this cozy restaurant tugged in a hidden street even our taxi driver had trouble finding it at first. We booked the restaurant through our hotel during our two weeks long Michelin starred restaurants eating tour. The couple, husband chef and wife serving, kne...w that we came from US, particularly took time to write down the 10 course dinner in English. We're so touched. Each dish was prepared with Kyoto ingredients and presented beautifully. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxing. We enjoyed each bite and learned much about the ingredients that went into it as the wife patiently explained to us with Google's help. That night, it was raining hard after we finished our meal. Due to location and weather, it was hard to get a taxi to return to hotel. The chef himself went out in the rain to get us a taxi. We were deeply moved. They went out of their way to make sure we enjoy our meal and return hotel safely. We highly recommend anyone who wants delicious Kyoto cuisine prepared with care to try this restaurant run by lovely husband and wife. They don't use the most expensive ingredients and the price reflects that. But each bite is as satisfying as the one we had at 2 Michline starred restaurants.

I found the restaurant via the Michelin guide and booked through the hotel concierge. Had a wonderful 5 course set lunch in this welcoming restaurant that seats around 10 people in a building that looks like a house converted into a restaurant. It’s a short bus ride from the golden palace in a resid...ential area and away from the tourists. Food was exceptional and very good value at 3500yen for lunch. The dinner sets were also very well priced at 6800 and 8800. The waitress used google translate to tell us what the ingredients of each dish were. Loved the tempura that was shaped like a corn husk and inside was a piece of baby corn and also the crab and sashimi. Was one of the best meals we had in Japan! Chef and waitress were so friendly and polite. Will definitely be back again.
