“A great chance to try some surprisingly good Japanese wine. Lovely pasta, nice cheeses, great atmosphere.”
Kalkos was recommended to us by our walking tour guide. Masato, the owner/sommelier, is so bright and happy and fun, his English is very good. We loved him, he is a big rock music fan, you see little hints of it with the coasters shaped like vinyl records, etc. He's a delight. The food! So nice... - it's hard to find a spot to have some wine and cheese. Our pasta was brilliant. We are from the SF Bay Area and we know a lot about wine. Masato introduced us to some surprisingly good local Japanese wine, one from the area below Mt. Fuji. Not knowing the local Japanese varietals, the staff helped us to pick wines to best match our palates. The restaurant is up one flight of stairs, there are about 8 seats. We made a reservations, but he was accepting walk-ins. He also has additional seating up one more level (kids can't sit in the bar area). It's a gem tucked away in the picturesque cobbled area a 10 minute walk from Namba station.

“Wine snd cheese pairing was amazing”
Absolutely amazing place! The owner and sommelier Massto was lots of fun knowing more about music then most. A little pearl that we are so happy about finding. The staff is lots of fun, with deep knowledge about wine and cheese pairing. We were recommended a Japanese wine and a the pairing with the... cheese was excellent. Spoke great English. Thank you for a lovely memory and experience ✨.

“Not impressed for the high prices.”
Overpriced and small serving of food and wine particularly for the 1,000 yen cover charge. The owner was dismissive of our party of 4 as we only ordered one bottle of wine.

“Whispers of Italy in an Osaka Alley: a Hidden Culinary Treasure”
Tucked away in a quiet, lantern-lit alley just beyond the vibrant chaos of Dotonbori lies one of Osaka's best kept secrets. A small Japanese Italian wine bar and eatery that feels like stepping into a dream. The soft hum of jazz and warm greeting of the owner Masato Inoue feels both cozy and refined.... We came here by accident on a Thursday for a glass of wine, and returned two nights later for one of the finest Italian meals of our lives. The wine and menu are curated with obvious care and expertise. Whether you are a traveler seeking an escape from the crowds, or a local in search of something quietly extraordinary, this spot is an absolute must. We will certainly be back on our future travels to Osaka! Thank you Masato-san for such a special experience and memory.

“AMAZING WINE BAR!!!”
We came across this bar while walking through Dotonbori. It is a bar with maybe 8 seats at the bar and a restaurant. The wine selection is very good. I had one wine from Moldova, one from Romania and one sparkling wine from Kyoto, all of them were fantastic. The atmosphere was nice, very good music.... But the highlight of our experience at the cute bar was Masato. He was just amazing and friendly. His hospitality was beyond words can describe. Okini Masato, I wish nothing but success coming your way!
