“Beautiful tempura, cooked to perfection.”
If you’re looking for beautiful tempura cooked with passion in a quiet, intimate setting this is place is perfect. We were greeted warmly by the owner who enthusiastically seated us at the bar, which only seated 7 people. He then presented us with a taster menu and we watched as he produced a variet...y of the most delicate, light, delicious tempura we had ever eaten (fish and vegetables). He was a wonderful host from beginning to end. If you’re in Osaka, make sure to book your seat in his kitchen, you won’t be disappointed. ありがとうございます，美味しいいですよ！

“Unique Tempura Dining Experience in Osaka!”
Chef Obata was recommended by a friend that previously visited Osaka - and we are so glad we decided to take their advice! Dining here is more of an overall experience compared to a meal. Chef Obata welcomed us when we arrived - and while this is a "one man show" - we were taken care of from arriva...l to send off! We went for the course that included fresh Abalone - something I had never had previously - which ended up being the highlight for me. There were so many courses - from smoked seafood to very unique tempura items - and all were amazing. Highly recommend dining with Chef Obata if you are in Osaka - we will definitely return when we are in Japan!

“Great Tempura and Home stile experience”
The owner does it all by himself. And it is great !!! Just trust him and you will get a wonderful fish tempura. He is one of the kindiest person I ever seen in my life. Go there. You won't be disappointed

“An unexpected Japanese food experience”
We have been eating good tempura in a tiny and nice familiar place. Issei was a great host and chef! He was great in cooking and explain us the food we were eating! I will recommend the place absolutely!

“Obata experience”
The Obata experience We were in Osaka 2 weeks ago and had a reservation at a restaurant that’s called; Tempura shunrakuan Obata.. Oh my God….This was the best tempura we ever had! Mr. Obata runs the restaurant on his own without any help, and in our eyes, he looked like a laborant creating his dis...hes behind the counter for his guests, and he sure knows what he is doing..Every dish he served was perfect!!!! We loved it..!!!! Not greasy but out balanced. We wish we could clone Mr. Obata to have him here in Amsterdam..yeah we wish.. This restaurant I will not ever forget it makes me want to go back to Japan.
