Excellent flavours , presentation , atmosphere and communication about each dish. We enjoyed our experience a lot and prefer it over other similar restaurants we have tried in Japan. If you are in Kyoto, definitely come here, you will not be disappointed.

We visited Kyoto for 12 days in October, 2023, and ate at a number of kaiseki restaurants, many with multiple Michelin stars. We were astounded by our meal at no stars Kyoto Ito, which really operated at a significantly higher level, in terms of preparation, quality of ingredients, and the overall ...deliciousness and impact of the many dishes. There was an overall sense of generosity. The chef has had training in France and at French restaurants in Japan, and although Ito is clearly a Japanese restaurant, there is an additional sensibility to the dishes. Traditional kaiseki dishes are usually composed of 3 or 4 ingredients, while at Ito, it was more like 6 or 7. This additional complexity added interest, rather than detracting, as it could have. The overall dishes were often brilliant. It was fascinating to sit at the counter and watch the numerous chefs work together to compose each dish. Half of a lobster, half of a crab, beef, toro, all substantial portions, and each surprisingly interesting and good. Reservations are already difficult, but not impossible. Go soon.

A thoroughly excellent experience with chef Shohei Noguchi and his team. Ten of the finest courses prepared counter-style in front of a small group (7 seats). The precision and attention to detail was extraordinarily; the welcome very friendly; and the food exquisite. 花花しい !
