“A late-opening, surprising find close to our hotel.”
My wife and I arrived late on the Haruka Express from Osaka, Kansai . We were both starving by the time we checked into our surprisingly gorgeous hotel - Good Nature, Kyoto. As such, we decided to venture out and eat at the first acceptable looking eatery, near and around the vicinity of our hotel, ...that hopefully still remains open?! Half soaking wet, we walked past a meagerly rated, Tabelog 3.1 sushi-ya. Sushi Kizaemon and decided to walk in. To our surprise, the food, though not top notch, was more than acceptable and enjoyable. Neta did not offer anything special or exceptional, but still pretty fresh at that time of the day!……maybe our hunger greatly dampened our normally discriminating palate?! But then at these late hours, ‘ Beggars can't be Choosers ‘! BTW, though near closing, service was still friendly and accommodating!

“Inauthentic overpriced average sushi experience”
As soon as they announced all the rules on our arrival I realised it was a mistake. The 700 yen table charge, the 90 min max, the rules on how to eat sushi. The service was perfunctory - I felt like on a conveyor belt for their super refined business model. The sushi was mixed. Tiny ok tasting su...shi was disappointing but also had much larger nigiri sushi. The vegetable tempura was also a small portion. It was all western tourists and as far from authentic feel as I’ve seen here. Problem with TripAdvisor highly rated is sometimes places lose the thing that got them there and then just bathe in their glory and squeeze it to the max.

We had read great reviews and decided to go based on them, and there were not wrong. Fresh fish and calm atmosphere. Highly reccommend.

“Horrible service”
I had a very disappointing experience at Sushi Kizaemon. The edamame was served cold and the tempura was overly oily. The only redeeming quality was that the raw fish was fresh, but everything else was subpar. On top of that, the customer service from Sora and Haruna was extremely poor—unhelpful and... dismissive. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this restaurant
