Don’...t be fooled by the word “small”—the portion was huge! A mountain of bean sprouts and cabbage topped with two massive slices of braised pork belly looked more like blocks of meat than ordinary chashu. 🍲 The broth, a soy sauce–tonkotsu blend, had a rich aroma but tasted milder than expected. Savory soy flavor, a touch of sweetness, and the depth of pork fat created a well-balanced taste. The extra-thick noodles had a satisfying chewy bite and held the broth beautifully. 🥩 The pork belly was the highlight—tender and slow-braised, with fat that melted in the mouth and lean meat that released full flavor with every bite. 🥬 The vegetables balanced the richness of the soup, making it surprisingly easy to finish despite the large serving. The “small” size already includes 250 g of noodles, but you can adjust garlic, vegetables, and backfat to your preference when ordering. 📌 With its convenient location near shopping and sightseeing areas, this shop is perfect for anyone curious about trying “Jiro-style” ramen for the first time. I just had some serious ramen in Kobe-and I'm still thinking about it. BUTAKIN in Motomachi opened pretty recently (October 2024), just a 1-minute walk from JR Motomachi Station. I'd heard about Jiro-style ramen, but this was my first time actually trying it in Kobe. I went with the "small" bowl (...lol, nothing small about it). The noodles were super thick and chewy-held their texture till the very end. You can customize everything: veggies, garlic, oil... which is great if you're a control freak like me. And the best part? It cost just around ¥1,000. For that amount of food?! I walked out full, happy, and a little shocked at how satisfying it was. Definitely not your average ramen experience-and that'sa good thing.

I first fel for BUTAKIN back in Osaka--the thick, heavy, flavor-packed kind of ramen that just stays with you. So when I found out there's a location in Kobe, I made sure to stop by. Same punchy broth, loaded with garlic and fatdangerously addictive. But the vibe here? A little more laid-back, more... chil. The noodles are thick, chewy, and full of attitude. Everything I loved, still going strong.

Walked into this spot in Kobe without thinking too much - just kinda felt like ramen. Ended up ordering the small bowl, and honestly? Totally worth it. While sightseeing in Kobe, I found a ramen shop with a line and visited! I waited 15 minutes to be seated. I handed my ramen ticket to the staff. After waiting about 10 minutes, the ramen arrived. The volume of the ramen was huge. It was hard to finish it, but the taste was great.
