“Great eel set with yakitori side dishes ”
This is our 2nd time at the place ( the last time in 2017) - hidden gem about 7km from Gotemba Station. We had dinner twice while we were in Gotemba on this trip. If you around the area go and try their eel set starting from or around 2500y (depending the number of pieces of eel you choose with you...r rice box). It’s either 1.5 pieces, 2 pieces, 3 or 4 pieces about 6000y. In the photo it’s the 2 pieces eel set comes with rice, soup n pickles. Besides the grilled vegetables and meat side dishes makes this place a great drinking joint. However no English is spoken n a limited English menu. All you need to do is point at the display what items to grill - pork wrap with asparagus, pork wrap with mushroom, pork wrap with mushroom, pork wrap with vegetables, mince pork, beef, grilled chicken etc... after a while you get the drift. No reservation needed except that it gets crowded on fridays n weekends. The restaurant closes on Wednesday.

“Great Unajyu (Eel Boxes)!”
Decided to have dinner in Gotemba as we learned Tomei Highway was jammed. We ordered two different set meals, each set with two different Unajyus (Eel Boxes) so we tried four different Unajyus. We also had a couple of kushiages. We have found a good restaurant in Gotemba.

“Excellent unagi!”
On our way down from the distillery we stopped by this unagi specialist for lunch. Eel done in many ways! Great service though getting the eel ready takes a while. The grilled unagi on rice was superb! Excellent.

“Reachable by car only - but superb food”
Just finish dinner at this restaurant which is located about 7km from Gotemba station. They have a Japanese website. No English is spoken but they have a English menu with photos. Staff were helpful and no reservations is needed. The restaurant opens from 5-9pm for dinner as well as for lunch. The... restaurant serves Yakitori @ 170y onwards ( the chicken wings, green pepper wrap, enoki mushroom, eggplant wrap) and many other kinds, together with the eel rice bowl from 2500y onwards. Prices were reasonable. Very good food and drink choices. Highly recommended as this place is frequented by locals only and is out of the way.
