Ｉ have a lot of favourite restaurants.　　Of these there are very few which I really like, such as “Doyle’s Seafood Restaurant” in Dingle, Ireland, “Al Porto” in Milan, Italy, and “Daiki” in Ise City, Japan (I am a Japanese and used to work in these three countries). All those restaurants serve reall...y nice meal and give me “a plus”, which is nice atmosphere where I may relax as staying at home. To enjoy such laxury, I have to dine there more than a few times. Even the very first time to be there, I already felt something special and quite different from others in those restaurants. If you happen to be in Ise Shrine and around in Japan, I strongly recommend you to dine in “Daiki”, traditional Japanese restaurant. What I enjoyed in “Daiki” on 18th May, 2026 are as follows. (1) “Ghizaemn” sake (Japanese rice wine) that has not been pasteurized and smells nice with jellied fish broth, (2) Shokadō Lunch Box, in which you have tempura or large shrimp, vegetable and shiitake or mushroom in Japanese style deep-fried, sashimi or raw fish thinly sliced, cooked shellfish, fish, vegetables, etc., cooked shrimp, vegetables, shiitake or mushroom, a slice of Japanese omelette, a bowl of cooked rice, Japanese pickles and a bowl of soup, (3) a large fresh and raw oyster, and (4) a slice of melon. I usually enjoy sashimi of Japanese spiny lobster or Abalone. I wanted to taste something different and chose Shokadō Lunch Box on 18thMay, 2026. It was in good quality of “Daiki” standard. Only thing I did not like is a bowl or boiled rice, which was no as good as before on that day.

Nice restaurant a short walk from our hotel (Pearl Pier). Famed for visits by the royal family - lots of photos of the occasion on the walls. Izkaya type cuisine with multi dish sets. All very tasty from fresh sashimi to stewed veggies. They have tatami rooms - with regular chairs, or tiled floors w...here you don't need to remove shoes. Given the royal family angle definitely one of the restaurants to visit while in Ise.

With the recommendation in this site, we went there for a lunch during a visit to the Shrine. We ordered few things including fish, tempura and lobster. The seafood, all of them, overcooked and did not have much flavor. Wondering if the seafood were freshly caught. Tempura was poorly done, not cris...py and the batter is thick. Similar to some poorly done tempura in NA. This is supposed to be a highly rate japanese restaurant in the town. I have to say I am surprised with the quality of the meal, I would expect at least the tempura was done properly. This was one of the worst, if not the worst, japanese meals during the 20 days in central japan.

We have ordered two full lobster dinner sets and other seafoods. The set dinner portion was big. The seafood was very fresh. A great dinner in Ise.

This is a traditional Japanese restaurant serving beautiful food, presented exquisitely. The room is tranquil and the service was pleasant.
