風和利 FUWARI

Read a blog and the reviews and booked this restaurant for our last meal in Kanazawa. We’ve been on a wonderful family trip to Japan with our 2 grown up sons and our teen. We’ve only had a couple of nights in Kanazawa and our last meal here was very special. Great environment, had a lovely private r...oom, lovely service and delicious food!! Essentially we navigated the menu as though it were Japanese tapas (sorry if that’s all kinds of foodie wrongs) we chose 3 or 4 dishes each and went for it, the beef tendon was melt in the mouth, I loved the zucchini with truffle (nobody else would try it, so more for me) chicken thigh dishes were so tasty, I booked in advance but only the day before, I’ve found as there are 5 of us and most venues are tiny it’s best to book if you can, we had plenty of drinks, more than enough food and was just over £150, we can’t even have a decent pub meal for that in the UK. Thoroughly recommend.

The menu at this restaurant is a true reflection of local culinary artistry. We started with their seasonal sashimi platter, which featured fresh fish and each slice was nice in flavor. For the main course, we chose their signature tempura, which was light, crispy, and served with a perfectly balanc...ed dipping sauce. The attention to detail in every dish was evident, from the quality of ingredients to the meticulous plating.

if i could give it a michelin star, i would. cozy upscale restaurant with a pro staff and really tasty food and drinks. i think there were more staff than seats and they do a great job running a great restaurant tucked away on a quiet side street. apparently the owner worked at Nobu in NYC, which we... new yorkers recognize as amongst the best japanese food in America, but you get that same elite feel here without being on a 3 month waiting list and at incredibly affordable prices. A hidden gem, go without hesitation. And get the Nodoguru if its on the menu that day.

We were blown away! Sashimi that melted in my mouth. Slices of grilled beef so tender and full of flavor. Grilled eel with crispy skin. Pickled and lightly steamed vegetables. Perfectly cooked short grain rice. A refreshing cold sake, and a lovely lemon sour. So good and very fun. The restaurant sta...ff was kind and helpful. I recommend highly.

The appetizers were delightful. The fish sushi was tasty. The prices are affordable compared to other restaurants in the city. Excellent service.
