Eating at the bar we enjoyed fabulous dish after delicious dish, sashimi, tempura, octopus and eel. We felt like we were eating, despite the language barrier, with the chefs and delightful waitresses. Make this a must visit

I found this place on Tripadvisor and asked our hotel to book it for me as it was Saturday evening. It opens at 17:00 and that was the only time available- we were first in but some the place soon filled up with locals. It has only 8 seats. It doesn’t look like much from outside but don’t be fooled.... The staff spoke (broken) English and were welcoming and very friendly. There was an English menu available. Food was excellent. Freshly prepared in front of us and absolutely delicious. We chose from the daily specials menu and had wonderful tempura shrimp and grilled eel. Yum. Would definitely recommend, but make sure you book to avoid disappointment.

This small restaurant had perfectly cooked food, was friendly and helpful , tiny but comfortable. We mainly ordered from the daily menu, supplemented with choices from a la carte items. The freshest and delicious sashimi, corn tempura, perfectly grilled beef , light and fresh shrimp and fish tempu...ra, plenty of choice with two chefs who seems to enjoy cooking for us. A waitress spoke some English which was helpful. It was so good we returned the next night with new choices!

Japanese izakaya with their unassuming storefronts, closed doors and no English to be seen can appear very intimidating, but not so this place. We plucked up the courage to open the door and walk in, and were warmly greeted and shown upstairs to a nice table for two as the counter seats downstairs w...ere full. We had no reservation but were seated straight away, although as suggested in other reviews if on a weekend or in a group larger than 2 I would imagine one is essential. They had an English menu and wait staff spoke English to us, so ordering was very easy. Food fantastic, can't go wrong with any of the specials - the beef filet mignon was superb. Izakaya are a place where the Japanese are able to relax and cut loose among friends, and we were treated to a vibrant, good natured atmosphere. Would highly recommend this hidden gem within sight of the station and surrounding hotels for an authentic yet accessible Izakaya experience off the beaten path.
