“Great experience and food”
Unusual experience but fun and tasty. Order a few dishes and make your own sushi. We enjoyed it so much that we headed to a store to buy the gear to make sushi at home.

“Food as Entertainment Art”
Unexpected dinner experience in Kanazawa. Central location - edgy concept restaurant. Roll your own maki and taste many varieties of tea. Excellent explanation before hand and very reasonable for this type of experience. Make a reservation in advance - the restaurant is quite small.

“Loved the food. Too bad the service came with a side of attitude and a dash of absurdity.”
Apparently, enjoying your meal here too long (aka 90 minutes — a rule written absolutely nowhere) triggers some kind of hospitality meltdown. But the real highlight? Being accused of stealing a flower we literally brought with us. Nothing says “welcome” like being treated like a criminal over a plan...t. So if you’re into passive-aggressive vibes, invented rules, and being interrogated mid-meal — this spot is a must. Otherwise? Hard pass. There are plenty of great restaurants in town that don’t confuse customers with suspects.

“A bit of fun with quality food”
A very cool experience for families or couples. Recommend you get the 6 or 8 option as the 5 wasn’t quite enough ingredients to make all 4 rolls. Very cool space.

“Average meal”
I had medium expectations about this restaurant going and it ended up being exactly that. Kanazawa does not have a lot of good food options for non-adventurous seafood eaters and so I went with Coil after booking Tile (sister restaurants). The concept is very interesting and cool but given the DIY n...ature of things, I felt like it would have been nicer if staff had been more helpful. There are videos that explain everything but that just wasn't enough for us. I also felt like the quality of the ingredients was not as good as they should have been. For instance, my avocado was browning. It worked in a pinch but I wouldn't go back.
