Everything was Good, Food, Service except do not order No 1 most Premium & Expensive Yonezawa Beef as it's not worth the price No 3 & No 9 & Beef Tongue is Good ❤️ Book before you go as NO ROOM with Chef is Very Disappointing 😓

We arrived 30 minutes before closing due to snowfall. There isn't any lunch set available anymore so we had to go ala carte. We ordered few cuts to share within the family and on one of the staff's recommendation, we now know that doesn't mean the most expensive cut is the best cut. So, please do as...k the staff for their own recommendation as you might be surprised. We tried their Yonezawa Gyu-Don as well. It was nicely done. Price wise, I personally feels it isn't as expensive as Kobe beef, even though the standard of Yonezawa Beef is comparable to that of Kobe.

We stopped by this restaurant on the way back to Tokyo from Sendai. First, you take a Yamabiko Bullet Train from Sendai to Fukushima and transfer to a Tsubasa Bullet Train at Fukushima and go to Yonezawa. It's about a half hour ride from Fukushima to Yonezawa. Bekoya is located about 3 minutes wal...k from the JR Yonezawa Station. It took us a little longer on the way because we had to ask for direction. When we entered the restaurant, we were greeted very warmly and they took care of our luggages promptly. I called earlier to make a reservation at their teppanyaki table and asked for a corkage fee which was only 800yen so I brought my favorite wine from California. We both ordered Sirloin Steaks, one 200g (9000yen) and the other 150g (7500yen). Since we went there early in order not to miss our train to go back to Tokyo, we were the only guests at the teppanyaki table. First, we ordered Yebisu Beer (650yen) which is our favorite beer in Japan to take care of our thirst. They served us O-Tohshi (similar to amuse bouche) which was like a little salad. Of course, the Yonezawa beef was delicious and we enjoyed our wine which we brought from all the way from home. Most of all, I liked this restaurant because they had a real cotton napkin. Our total bill was 18670yen. They didn't charge us a service charge like a hotel restaurant. I guess that O-Tohshi (360yen per person) is like service charge because you have no choice not to have O-Tohshi whether you like it or not. Overall, we were very satisfied we chose our detour to go to Bekoya.

Purposely stopby (stayed at Yamagata) at Yonezawa for Yonezawa beef, choose this restaurant because of famous and easy for foreign like me. The chief cook speak and little English, can explain in English for the serve foods. Very good in cooking beef, personaly I think this beef are better than Kob...e beef I have. I take 150g fillet set and cost around 10000yen only.

the restaurant is well designed and attractive to a westerner; the food was not as special as I thought and frankly if i knew that one needed a reservation when arriving at 11:30 on a monday, i would have rather done the local ramen houses. We had the lunch specials - they were good but frankly not ...worth the wait.
