“Superb seasonal food”
Last night we were taken to Amber for dinner by a friend who lives locally. We entered through this little door off the street and up a flight of stairs into this very traditional Japanese restaurant. The chef was right there cooking behind the counter and you can sit at the counter/bar to eat or go... into one of the rooms and sit on the tatami mat floor with your feet under the table Japanese style, we elected to eat that way. The waitress was excellent, friendly and very knowledgeable about all the food we had and also she knew all about the different saki's we tried, had a few local ones , all good. We had quite a few dishes of food , all very fresh seasonal fare, it was like a degustation dinner , fish, veggies, soup all a bit different, prepared in the chef's own style, very tasty, very Japanese We loved it. Highly recommended

“Great izakaya”
Great Izakaya! We enjoyed our appetizer on the house the sashimi, fish roe, grilled fish and root vegetable salad. Would recommend it to anyone in the neighborhood. Ask to sit at the bar or at one of the tatami tables - the section with “normal” tables is kind of boring-looking. The name of the plac...e according to the restaurant’s menu and sign is “Anbe”. It’s on the second floor so go up the stairs to find the restaurant.

“Great Izakaya place”
Visit the restaurant with our good friend. The decoration is Authentic Japanese Bar. The food was extremely good. especially Sashimi and porridge. I do not drink alcohol but I still enjoy my dinner so much. Ingredient was so fresh and the cooking technique is top. I would advice anyone who has a ...chance to visit Hiroshima to try this restaurant. Please book in advance.

“Very Good Adaptation of El Bulli ideas for Japanese Food!”
The chef-owner of ANBE has adapted the ideas of Ferran Adria (who ran El Bulli in Catalonia to much aclaim for some years) to Japanese food, while simultaneously keeping the best part of Japanese traditional cooking. And he has done it quite well, at least on the basis of our visit. The restaurant... is not especially aiming for the tourist trade, but we found the deconstruction concepts used in preparing the food unlike anything else we have seen in Japan, and if you are a foodie (as we are) it is well worth going out of your way to find ANBE and take advantage of the imaginative cooking,
