“You have no idea whats’ possible here.”
Pontocho have many nice restaurant and bar with elaborate food and drinks. Nagamegawa is one of them, and facing river. Classic and authentic, classy interior. Pricy? Yeah but no over pricing. I would like to suggest the terrace table. Most of pontcho restaulant have terrace for summer season as “K...awadoko”. Nagamegawa offer that winter too. With my favorite Japanese Kotatsu, you can enjoy river view in the winter in warm Kotatsu. No one else offer this crazy idea in winter. You gotta enjoy this.

“Top dollar for meal of monks”
Not a restaurant for the hungry. Merely a cultural experience of eating like a monk - hungry!! More like a posh monk who fine dine every meal! After a 9 course meal we’re not close to full! Bette to come during day time coz the night view of the river isn’t that great. Oh don’t come fine you have sp...inal/knee/ankle injury coz you’ll have to seat on the floor!

“Great food and great view over the river, The Kai Seki was tasty”
We stopped to do a set-meal Kai Seki with a view over the river. Kai Seki is the traditional many course Japanese meal with each dish artfully prepared. We ended up with a two person private room looking out over the river. The Food and were wonderful. The service was a little too slow and was n...ot responsive. By the end we felt forgotten.
