I have been to Kyoto many times and eaten in many of the finest establishments in town. To find this gem just around the corner from our hotel (Hotel Monterey) was a pleasant surprise. The food, service, ambiance, and everything else was perfect. Thank you so much for an awesome dinner experience... in Kyoto! What made the night extra special was our waitress/server (Kyoto University Chemical Engineering student from Hokkaido) - she spoke perfect English, exlained everything to my guests extremely well, had an excellent sense of humor and overall just made us feel like we were amoung friends. This employee epitomizes what service and connecting with customers is all about. I highly recommend for anyone desiring an excellent beef meal with awesome service in Kyoto. Excellent job!

Me and my fiancée visited the Whats Beef restaurant last month. We both had an amazing evening and both experienced a fantastic service. We had our own private room in the restaurant with a grill between us, where you could cook the food yourself. The room also had heaters for your feet. The waitres...s was very informative about how to cook the meat properly. The cuts of meat were generous and you were able to try many different cuts. At the end of the meal the restaurant surprised us with a desert and candles as we mentioned that we were celebrating our engagement. This finished off a really lovely evening. I couldn’t recommend this restaurant enough, great service and fantastic beef.

Best yakiniku restaurant we visited on our trip. The staff was incredibly welcoming and kind. Very English friendly. Highly recommend to anyone in Kyoto to enjoy.

Went to Matsusaka Beef What’s for dinner tonight. The beef was superb. We had the Assorted Beef (5 kinds). Every piece left us wanting more. Also, the sake was delicious. The service was great and very helpful! I strongly suggest anyone visiting Kyoto to come experience this charming restaurant.

Me and my fiancé had a great evening! We ate the recommended dish with several different types of meat, vegetables and two sides of rice. The service was the best we’ve had during our stay in Japan. They all spoke very well English and were very sweet and professional. Big plus to the young man that... was our main waiter that evening - he was wonderful! If he is reading this - the Swedish couple from March 21st Would like to thank you again for all of your great work! We will definitely come back next Kyoto visit! 😄
