“Can't believe one can't do better”
Average food at best. No one had bothered to trim the chicken for the karaage. Lettuce seemed old. I can get better gyoza in the States.

“Friendly izakaya”
I wandered around the area near my ryokan and found lots of small bars and restaurants and this one had the magic words in the doorway, English menu. It's not a typical izakaya as it does everything, sushi, meat skewers and other dishes. I walked in and was sat at the counter, you're brought two sma...ll dishes(it's the way they put a cover charge on), the menu, and then left alone to choose. As is usual they take the order on a palm, I had the chefs sushi set and a beer, and very nice it was too. After a second beer I left but it was busy with locals, I think with all the hotels in the area they must see more tourists to advertise an English menu and I'm surprised not more do.
