“A MUST in Yomitan Okinawa ”
Zen is definitely a must if you want to make your trip more complete. It’s recommended to make a reservation before you go...English is fine. A soothing atmosphere when you walk in and the food is such a delight. We had the braised pork and it is was just phenomenal. I give this experience a two t...humbs up...you won’t be disappointed at all. Both owners would come and ask how the food is and their faces just displays such proudness, satisfaction and moved from us enjoying their food.

“Highly recommended”
Great family operated little restaurant with 16 seats only. PRO: Excellent ingredients prepared to perfection, be it the Sahimi of the day (brilliant with the usual wasabi AND an awesome Yuzu-paste); the raw fish can't be much better! Mains were spare ribs: Excellent ribs (small portion, if you cut... away the grease like I did) with tasty veggies and outstanding tofu tempura. Salad with cold tofu was also delicious. Excellent craftmenship! The CHABLIS from the reliable Chablisienne group was a perfect companion (4000 Yen). The owners speak fairly good English. CON: They are closed on Monday and not very flexible, if you did not make a reservation (like us on a Saturday and many other guests on a Sunday). Sum-up: This is the benchmark for us in this area. How can we survive on MON evening???

“Comfortable Restaurant”
ZEN is one of favorite restaurant which I has visited several times. The restaurant is opposite Higa Shuzo, the manufacturer of Zanpa. Zanpa is one of Awamori (Okinawan traditional liquor). So, even if Zanpa is out of stock, it is a location they can get immediately. Owner chef is from Kyoto, and so... you can order not only Awamori and wine, but also Fushimi's cool sake. Until now, I have booked and visited the restaurant, but I could not put in a full table that I visited without a reservation this time. After I learn a lesson from this, when I visited again the next day of regular closing day, I made a reservation.

“Quality Meal outside the City”
Our party met a friend who lives in the area, and gave this "farm-to-table" spot a try after hearing good reviews. Overall, "Zen" lives up to its name in that it provides a peaceful environment for a good, quality-made dinner. Though portions are small (relative to the American standard), the flavor...s of the dishes were fantastic; more importantly, you could tell the food was prepared on the spot. With only 4-5 tables to choose from and hours from 1700-2300, I'd recommend calling ahead for a reservation, even on a weekday...just to ensure you will have a seat upon arrival. Not that it matters (we are IN Japan, after all), but from what I could tell the staff spoke minimal English; the menus, however, are presented in both English and Japanese. At our table, we ordered the Fried Tofu, Chicken Skins, Pork Belly, Garlic Chicken, Fried Chicken, a variety of salads, as well as some mango juice and jasmine tea. All of the meals were superb, and we'll definitely make a point to return in the future.

“Really nice food”
This restaurant is on Route 6 in the Yomitan district. The place is small and had basic decorations and furniture (wood chip table tops!) but the service was efficient and friendly and the food was really interesting, combinations of well-cooked Okinawan produce in generous portions. The prices to...o were very reasonable and the food was first rate.
