Gyudo!

Just a fabulous experience. The most flavoursome beef we've ever eaten. Great fun to cook the meat yourself over an open grill. Friendly and helpful staff. We enjoyed it so much we immediately booked again for tomorrow night!

Best restaurant experience out of ten days spent in Kyushu. The Kagoshima black beef was delicious, and incredible value at the same time. We ordered the set and couldn’t believe how much good beef was served. The service was excellent, and the young waitress spoke functional English and was able to... guide us through what we were eating and answer our questions. The chef was also keenly interested in ensuring we had a good eating experience.

A special place to try the famous Kagoshima beef. The ambience is nice and the food is excellent. The beef comes cut in pieces and you sear them yourself on a fire pit at the middle of the table; it literally melts in the mouth. We were very happy with the food but not so much with the service. We h...ad ordered a salad to share, which never came, instead they brought two smaller salads and they charged for all three!! We spent twenty days in Japan, it was the only time we had this issue. Unfortunately we only noticed the next day. So, pay attention to the bill and enjoy the meat.

Best cheapest wagyu we’ve tasted in Japan. Kagoshima recently won the Wagyu Olympics so we headed to Kagoshima to taste this prized beef. - before it ever gets pricy. Gyudo is just beside Tenmonkan arcade. The staff was welcoming and kind. We ordered the recommended set and we were treated to a feas...t we came to this town for. It’s worth the more than 2-hour train ride from Hakata! We’ll be back for the steak!

It was fully booked on Friday night so We had to settle for Saturday lunch.We arrived early at 11.30am.We picked 2 orders,one mixed beef and the other was 2 pieces of beef with lots of marbling.The orders came with clear cups of soup and salads and a raw egg in a bowl. The lady staff taught us how t...o cook the beef and to dip in the beaten egg before eating.You are provided with a little salt and sauce.Seems to me that you are expected to enjoy the taste and juiciness of the beef without having to add the sauce/salt.Well the beef was tender and like many say,melts in your mouth!(This was was for the 2 single pieces of beef). As for the others,they were also tender and juicy but slightly different from the one that melts in your mouth.I was surprised when told that 3 fat meat pieces were also to be eaten! Plain fat? It was a no no for me! The place met with our expectations and we were glad that we made a special effort to go there to try out the beef. Though little English was spoken by the staff,communication was not a problem.Staff service friendly and efficient. Took a tram from Kagoshima station to Tenmonkan arcade ( less than 10 mins) where outlet is located.Costs Y170 .You pay only when you drop off.
