“Come for Lunch. Come Back for Dinner.”
I’ve been coming to Tasuke for nearly 20 years, and it remains one of those places I always look forward to visiting when I’m in Tokyo. Tasuke has different sides to it. Lunch is casual, relaxed and excellent value. But dinner at the counter is a completely different experience. In the evening, I ...like to leave it to the chef and enjoy the omakase — starting with sashimi and a few drinks, followed by sushi served piece by piece. The selection changes with the seasons and what is particularly good at the time, so part of the pleasure is simply sitting at the counter and seeing what comes next. This isn’t a flashy or tourist-oriented sushi restaurant. It’s a neighborhood sushi place that quietly does what it does very well. After nearly 20 years, that is still what keeps me coming back. If you’re exploring Kappabashi Kitchen Town for knives, cookware or tableware, Tasuke is an easy place to include in your day. Stop by for lunch while you’re in the neighborhood. If you enjoy it, come back another time for dinner — that’s when you’ll discover a completely different side of Tasuke. A couple of practical notes: Dinner is by reservation only, so please reserve in advance. Lunch is cash only, while credit cards are accepted at dinner.
