ICARO

This is a lovely Italian restaurant and would be our go to Italian if we lived in Nakameguro. As noted in the Michelin star guide, the Chef specialises in Northern Italian cuisine and successfully weaves in local (Japanese) ingredients. Every dish we ordered was delicious - we were particularly im...pressed with the flavours of the scallop carpaccio starter and the orecchiette with tiny white fish, finely shredded broccoli and bottarga. The pasta with Hokkaido venison was very good too. For dessert we chose the apple strudel to share - it was served warm, not too sweet and the portion was just right. The decor of the restaurant is rustic and comfortably warm on the chilly evening that we visited. The sommelier had chosen two really nice bottles of red wine to serve by the glass; the 2004 bottle was very smooth (Italian in origin of course). At the end of the evening, we found ourselves tempted to book another meal here before the end of the week.

First, food is more than good. Portion is big. Service looks nonchalant at first glance but it might be due to the personality of the server. Over time he started to open up and look friendly. Overall, food is rather good and so is price. We were a party of two, big foodies and left pretty satisfied... with a bottle of wine and aperitifs with a bill of 33000 yens.

The chef is marrying some real northen Italian recipes with a skillful selection of the ingredients and a top class wine selection. Definetly recommended.o
