“check prices before you sit down!”
we wanted sake tasting but didn't know enough about sake, so asked for a sip of 3 different sake and it was literally a sip each. then we decided we like all the sake we tasted and ordered 1 sake of each kind. in the interim, we had a small plate of figs with goat cheese, poached shitaki mushrooms,... pork with leek, bamboo shoot with mustard greens and slivers of prosciutto. when we were half way through with our drinks, we were informed that we would be charged a tasting fee. we weren't happy about not being informed earlier on but accepted and decided to wrap up and go to another place. the bill came and our eyes literally popped out - we ended up paying equivalent of AUD$50 per person and we have had by far more elaborate meals inclusive drinks for the price charged. we saw that we were charged yen 500 for each sip of sake tasting we had. it was a total rip off!

“Beautiful Lunch & GF Friendly ”
It's my first time in Tokyo and Yasaiyamei was recommended by a friend. I was thrilled when then they knew what GF meant, and they swapped a gluten item of my fixed lunch for fresh carrot juice without me having to ask. They even had GF soy sauce! The food was beautiful and fresh, and the service wa...s lovely.

“Best option for vegetarians foodies”
This restaurant focuses on seasonally vegetables. One of the few in Tokyo who do. Select your size course and you will be brought many small sophisticated dishes. This is not an all vegetarian restaurant, they just happen to understand that doing conscious cuisine well is one mark of a talented chef.... We visit every year.

“Down to Earth Cuisine”
Yasaiya Mei is located on the 3F of the sleek, high-end designer mall ~ Omotesando Hills. Even though Yasai Mei rubs shoulders with brand luxury boutiques, it maintains its friendly & efficient service, affordable prices & serves local dishes that have been prepared with imagination & a lot of care.... The menu revolves around vegetables, of which you will see a prominent display by the entrance, but one can get other staple dishes made of fish, chicken, beef, etc. They procure their vegetables from local farmers & their own garden & almost all are grown organically. For lunch we choose from an array of set meals ranging from ¥1390 to ¥3000 plus taxes. They also serve elaborate course meals. Will definitely go back & sample out the intriguing mix of dishes on their à la carte menu. They now have restaurants all around town ~ Kashiwa, Gotanda, Roppongi Hills, Azabu-juban, Ueno & Yokohama.
