“Off the beaten path yakiniku establishment”
This was the recommendation from Ryokan Wakamatsu where we were staying. Our request for dinner reservations only came about at 4pm so the restaurant was full already, and they could only slot us in at 6pm. After a 10 min taxi ride, we arrived at the restaurant where a chiller display in front prou...dly displayed various cuts of beef. Seems like a good start. Given the location, it’s not anywhere near the usual touristy locations. We were brought to our table in a private room on the second floor, and it seemed like every party were in their own private rooms. We sat on tatami mats on the floor, cross-legged. So for those who struggle to sit in this fashion for the duration of a meal, pls do reconsider. Suffice to say the beef served was really fabulous and pricing wise was relatively affordable and consistent to what we would have paid in Singapore, but the quality being superior. Be warned that the menu is only in Japanese and the staff spoke very little English. Do balance the meal with a salad or two, as they were equally delicious. We left feeling very satisfied and contented. The experience was worth every Yen we paid.
