“Still thinking about that beef!”

Reviewed 27/Mar/2026

Honestly, one of the best meals I’ve had. The beef was just incredible-melt-in-your-mouth tender and super delicious. I also took a chance on the Matcha beer and I'm so glad I did; it’s a totally new taste that works surprisingly well with the meal. Everything looked as good as it tasted. Highly rec...ommend if you’re in the area!

“Unforgettable Wagyu Yakiniku and Kobe beef sukiyaki”

I visited this restaurant with a friend and we enjoyed the entire experience from start to finish. The quality of the beef was outstanding, and everything from the fresh yukke to the sukiyaki was prepared with great care. The matcha beer was very unique and tasty. The service was incredibly warm an...d attentive without being overwhelming. The atmosphere made us feel like we are truly in Kyoto. We chose the Kinkaku course which included kimchi, and fresh salad, wagyu sashimi with egg yolk, ultra rare premium tongue, a variety of cuts like loin, harami, and kalbi, and an A5 Kobe beef sirloin sukiyaki cooked right in front of us with fresh egg for dipping. The meal was completed with freshly cooked clay pot rice using Hachidaime Gihei rice and a fun matcha jelly dessert where you push the white jelly through a sift using a traditional tool. We had a really great time here and it is definitely the kind of place you do not forget when visiting Kyoto.

“Unforgettable Yakiniku”

I visited here with mom and we both truly enjoyed the whole experience from high quality beef of course to fresh Yukke, Sukiyaki beef and all you can drink including matcha beer and Japanese premium sake, “Dassai” Every detail is intentional and their service was absolutely amazing. So warm. The a...tmosphere was also amazing. We had a really great time here. The ¥8,800 course includes: • Assorted namul, kimchi, and fresh salad • Wagyu yukke • Ultra-rare thick-cut premium tongue • Lean cuts, loin, harami, and premium kalbi • A5 Kobe beef sirloin sukiyaki, cooked right in front of you • Fresh egg for dipping • Freshly cooked clay pot rice using “Hachidaime- Gihei” rice • Matcha dessert to finish Kyoto tradition meets modern design — this is the kind of place you don’t forget.

“Best Yakiniku so far in Kyoto”

Reviewed 25/Mar/2026

I had an amazing dining experience at Ichimichi (Kyomachiya Yakiniku Ichiba Koji – Kiyamachi branch). The atmosphere of the restaurant is absolutely beautiful, with a traditional Kyoto townhouse style that feels both cozy and elegant. One of the most unique highlights was the matcha beer experience... — you get to prepare the matcha yourself and mix it with the beer. It was something totally new and interactive, which made it really fun. The food presentation was also impressive. It’s not just yakiniku — the gyutan (beef tongue) and sukiyaki were both incredibly delicious. The rice was another standout. The staff mentioned it was a famous Kyoto rice, and you could really tell — it was shiny, fluffy, and paired perfectly with the meat. The dessert was also a memorable experience. It was like a jelly/warabi mochi-style dessert where you use a grid to cut it yourself, then mix it with brown sugar syrup. I’ve never had anything like it before, and it tasted amazing. Overall, this was not just a meal but a full experience. I would definitely come back again when I visit Kyoto. Highly recommended!
