Had an amazing first yakiniku experience in Kyoto here. The clay pot rice & sukiyaki were the standouts for me — Great flavor, lovely presentation, and a charming space. Perfect for anyone looking for a memorable meal in Kyoto.

The thing that sets this place apart is that it’s a grill-it-yourself omakase — you cook at your own table, but every course is paced and explained for you. Thirteen courses total. The surprises for us were the A5 strip loin, the sukiyaki and the clay pot rice.. The mizore sake went down very smooth...ly. A really enjoyable dinner for the two of us.

This was a relaxed dinner where every course had its own highlight. The premium wagyu, thick-cut beef tongue, and seasonal dishes were all enjoyable, while the Nama Shibori sake paired nicely with the meal. Ending with freshly pressed kuzukiri in matcha sauce gave the dinner a traditional Japanese ...finish. I'd gladly visit again when back in Kyoto.

The quality of the wagyu was excellent, but what stood out most was the pacing of the meal and the attention given to each course. The Kyoto sake, matcha beer, and freshly prepared kuzukiri with matcha sauce added memorable touches beyond the grilled meats. The atmosphere inside the restored machiy...a was calm and comfortable, and the staff made the evening feel very welcoming.
