Food and service was fabulous! The fish appetizer I dream of. We went there for the Kobe but think I may have enjoyed this appetizer the most. Plenty of food well presented.

Probably the best meal my husband and kids (two teenagers) had during our two-week trip to Japan. They all did the Kobe beef and agreed it was the best steak they've ever had. Restaurant is small, basically one long counter table that can be divided among parties, but the ambiance is bright and warm... and welcoming. Service is very attentive. Watching the chefs cook in front of you is great. If you want excellent, best quality Teppanyaki dining in Kyoto, this is the place to go. On top of that: I want to give this restaurant a shout-out for being able to accommodate a vegetarian (me.) Japan can be very tricky for vegetarians--especially vegetarians traveling with three meat-eaters who have zero interest in going to a tofu restaurant. :) After a not-great experience at a high-end Tokyo teppanyaki restaurant, my expectations were low going into Moriya Gion. I was so pleasantly surprised by how well they accommodated me. We were a party of four, so one chef prepared food for my three family members, and then they brought out a second chef who cooked just my food on the table in front of me. (Talk about personalized service!) The vegetarian garlic fried rice was delicious and a particular standout of my meal. I actually walked out of the restaurant full (unlike the Tokyo teppanyaki place, where I had to order room service afterward). Wonderful service. Highly recommended.

One of the best meals we’ve had. What an amazing experience! Everything was absolutely delicious. The Kobe steak was of course great, but even the unexpected was great, all the vegetables, rice were high quality and expertly prepared. Service was professional and friendly. Again one of the best meal...s we’ve ever had!

Everything was superb. These individuals cooking in front of you are skillful and precise in the cooking of every meal. We were a group of 9 visiting and they were extremely accommodating.
