“Sushi, beef, AND salad, ftw.”
Stumbled upon this place when my wife and I couldn't find a restaurant we both liked. She wanted sushi while I wanted...uh, food. You know, meat. Sure, there are lots of beef places and lots of sushi places, but almost none we could find that offered both (we think they even serve Udon). Most impres...sively, this neighborhood gem had salad on the menu---two kinds! So in a city where most restaurants specialize in a single cuisine, this place was a gift from the gods. We managed to get a seat at the bar as the place isn't huge; it maybe sits 20 people in total. We ordered two draft beers a green salad with radishes and the Caesar salad with thick-cut bacon (aka, ham) and a soft boiled egg. The croquettes arrived after; still not sure if they were filled with tofu or cheese but it didn't matter. The sushi assortment and mackerel was great according to the wife. My 100g of beef, cooked in an iron skillet, was delicious. I wish I'd found this place sooner--it's our last day in Kyoto--because we would've gone back a few times. Highly recommended.
