“Seasonal menu was OK, try their regular / popular menu”
I honestly didn’t expect that the restaurant would be full for lunch but I was wrong !!! I was first assigned a bar counter seat butt I asked if I could have a table instead. I was early for lunch and thought that I could leave by the time more customers showed up later but the restaurant was... full when I realized. I witnessed that Mikuni is one of the very popular restaurants in Kinosaki Onsen. By the way, many places are closed on Wed or Thur. When I arrived at Kinosaki, it was Thursday. Unfortunately the bistro I wanted to try was closed... Mikuni should be open every day. When you visit Kinosaki, plan well or avoid Wed and Thur. I had a seasonal menu. It had a very refreshing taste as it was like salad with thinly sliced beef but it came with an onsen egg and minestrone. If you want to savour Tajma wagyu. I would suggest you try their regular and popular menu. The seasonal menu was quite OK, I tasted more salad than beef. I wanted more beef to taste properly. I had a glass of red wine ; Chilean. I am not a fan of South American wine but surprisingly it was good.

“Best Meat in Town!”
Wanting a solid great meal, we came here for a fantastic meal. Steak 3 ways, salad& soup can be pricey but super great service, great atmosphere& ok wine list- had a burgundy. Go here for a fabulous meal- simple& easy. Restaurant is on 2nd floor- we had a table overlooking the street.

“Big disappointment!”
Don’t waste your money here!!! After reading the reviews, we decided to splurge on some prime rib steak set menu for lunch. 9500 yen for 150 g of Tajima beef. We were served extremely gristly meat that none of us could chew. The meat we got would have required hours of slow cooking to render it ed...ible. No remedy were offered after indicating the problem to the wait staff who spoke little English. We can only surmise it was a case of anti-Asian American tourists. This incident is so counter to the excellent beef and other dining experiences during our many trips to Japan.

“I highly recommend this restaurant. I even went twice here.”
We had dinner at Mikuni twice when we stayed in Kinosaki. Chef kouji Nakamura prepared the "Tajima Beefe Barbequue Course" meal perfectly. This consisted of the following: Appetizer - Three Appetizer Soup - Broth of Tajima Beef Meat Salad - With Tajima Beef Barbecue- Tajima Beef & ...Vegetables Rice - Cooked in Pot Tsukudani - Boild Beef in Soy Sauce Soup - Miso Dessert - Ice Cream, Cake, Fruits I highly recommend this restaurant. I even went twice here.

“Incredibly delicious meat”
This is a restaurant that we use for lunch when staying at a nearby ‘ryokan’. Choose either fillet or sirloin steak. Garlic rice made with beef oil is very delicious.
