“Excellent small dining house”
Do not miss dining with totally fresh ingredients in this tiny Japenese steak restaurant. We arrived there after a walk in nearby Nishiki Market. Outstanding service and can’t ask more.

“Excellent teppayaki! ”
We found this restaurant on TA and decided to visit based on the 5-star reviews. And we were rewarded with an excellent teppanyaki dinner; fresh seafood (abalone and lobster) and really good beef - in the form of beef stew, grilled beef and wagyu beef steak cooked to medium-rare perfection. The che...f was very skilful and knew enough English. Restaurant has only 8 seats so advance booking is necessary.

“Hidden Gem”
Not sure why there’s not a constant waiting list for this restaurant. It is truly amazing. We went with our two teens and each of us got the course menu with Kobe beef. It was one of the best meals we’ve had ever. Even our picky daughter ate everything. Each course was the perfect size and delicious.... I especially loved the cold pumpkin soup. The beef was amazing and the garlic rice was SO good! There are only 8 seats here so book in advance. We tried to get in a second night and they were booked. Highly recommend!

“Lovely ambiance, treated royally ”
We came across this little restaurant while zigzagging Kyoto from our bnb, and were taken by the nice ambience and simple menu. Fortunately we were able to reserve that night (it’s small - 8 chef’s table seats) As this was the end of our trip, we were determined to try wagyu beef, and opted to skip... the set menu (which was a good deal) and just dive in. The chef was able to talk to us in simple English and we opted for a mix of fillet and sirloin, some vegetables and rice along with a bottle of red. Wow! Very intimate dining, and while not cheap (wagyu is always pricey) we loved it and ended up ordering another round of sirloin (it was so tasty). They offered us a small “amuse dessert” on the house and laughed with us when we tried to teach my mother-in-law how to use chopsticks. This was a lovely way to complete our Kyoto trip and a great parting memory. Thanks!

“Memorable meal”
We were after a Wagyu beef dinner close to our hotel & are very happy we found this place! Only a block from our hotel (Mitsui Garden Sanjo) and the front desk had never heard of it. But we had a warm reception, wonderful service and great food & wine, in spite of our very limited Japanese. Only 8 s...eats so call ahead, even if it is only 30-40 minutes in advance.
