Japanese SAKE BAR Gion Main store

A very interesting place to discover nihonshu, the drink most people outside Japan simply call sake. The bar has an elegant, relaxed atmosphere and offers the chance to try very different styles of sake, including sparkling sake. What I enjoyed most was experiencing the sake together with food rath...er than simply doing an alcohol tasting. During the course we tried several dishes, including pork, Wagyu and finally unagi with rice and dashi. It was a great way to understand how much the character of sake can change depending on what you pair it with. We also tried the LUMI Junmai Daiginjo, along with other styles served in different ways and at different temperatures. A very enjoyable experience for anyone who wants to learn more about Japanese sake without being in an overly formal setting. A great find in Gion.

Lovely sake bar - interesting choices and very kind and helpful staff. We tried some sakes that we would not have had access to in the US and the bartenders were knowledgeable. The atmosphere was enjoyable.
