“Great family run Japanese restaurant”
Great little restaurant. Family run with very helpful menu and support from the family to get the best out of our experience in support of little English spoken. Don’t be put off by the website reservation setup. We had no difficulty getting a table for two at 7.30 without reserving. Delicious hotpo...t and sushi/tempura dishes acc by tankards of draught beer

“Just cough up the money and eat here!”
After reading other forums and reviews about places to eat in Kanazawa, I chose this place for the Ji-Buni. Rather than just eating that particular dish, I ordered a set. This included fresh sashimi, a custard with pork and mushrooms (incredible flavour and smell), pickled vegetables and plums, miso... soup, rice, and if course, the Ji-Buni. The food was incredible. From the presentation to flavours, everything was meticulous and incredibly tasty. The Ji-Buni was what I came for and it’s really unlike anything I’ve eaten in Japan before. The smell itself was incredible. Vegetables and duck in a sweet brown transluscent broth. Everything paired beautifully; the duck was juicy, medium and full of flavour. The consistency of the broth was like a mix of honey and water. There were vegetables in this dish that are only grown in Kanazawa, one of them being the kaga futo-gyuri. A melon like texture and taste. All absolutely delicious. The chef and his wife were both very accomodating. Although the language barrier can always be difficult, they were both lovely and tried to talk with me. Would definitely go back again to eat.

“Nice little family restaurant tucked behind busy street”
It is hard to find disappointing Japanese eatery in kanazawa. This is certainly testimony to that claim. Although the owners don't speak English, which created a bit misunderstanding when one of my raw fish plate appeared to be something sea creature that was still moving and alive, (I had to dec...line it due to lack of courage), the whole experience is still wonderful. The sashimi was very fresh, tempura fantastic, gibuni wonderful and all other little plates of vegetables are all very tasty. The price is also reasonable. The whole set of seafood courses only cost around 50 dollars, which is such a great deal in comparison. I would certainly recommend this place.

“Family run restaurant”
Typical small Japanese restaurant. Good food and very nice owners. You can choose between different menus with a wide price range (1000-6000 yen). It's not an extraordinary place but you can enjoy a good meal in a nice atmosphere. (At the second floor if you get in from the river side)

“Family run local Kanazawa cuisine”
We had a great lunch at Gyohan. They make simple but delicious local cuisine. It's a small friendly low key restaurant.
