Sashimiya

Sashimi bowl here is good. Crab and shrimp cream croquettes are yummy. It’s not fishy at all. Tempura here is good.

Rustic interior. Very good fish menu. Very popular place: had to queu outside for 25 minutes for late lunch and had to share a table. You won’t find the name written in English outside, so go from the pictures. Menu does have English “subtitles”.

They say sushi/sashimi is great in kanazawa. We found this restaurant by accident. It was excellent! I ordered the Sashimiya lunch special, and my husband had the unagi-don. The fish was Super fresh The Crab was super sweet! The unagi Don was huge! Eel in Japanis very expensive but we thought we wer...e charged a very fair price for the size of the eel. They accept credit card Visa and cash only. Great miso soup too!

Sashimiya is in the heart of the Omicho Market. A cash- only place, it is not all that large. Compared to some places which were clearly fancier, Sashimiya was pretty crowded. The menu is in Japanese and English, and the pictures are a good guide if you aren’t sure what some of the items are. The sa...shimi was really fresh. My wife had the yellowtail and tuna rice bowl and I had the Unagi rice bowl. Both were delicious. The service was impersonal and haphazard. We were seated upstairs and the server appeared when she felt like it and then only did what she went to do, ignoring the other two tables trying to get her attention. They lost beer revenue on us and based on the price, I’m sure it’s a high- profit item for them. There are many places with just as good sushi and better service.

Find it near one of the entrances/exits. Great fresh seafood, very friendly staff and good sake choices. Its not the cheapest but the food was worth it to me.
