“A truly wonderful experience!”

It was amazing! The design of the building is lovely. We were asked if we were okay with a tatami room and said yes. Mind you, if you are very tall this will be a bit more difficult, but does add to the traditional Japanese experience. It is also possible to eat at a table instead. They have both a ...Japanese and English menu. We choose course B. Every menu is centered around their dashi, a Japanese style broth, which makes the flavors of every dish come out to their fullest. On top of the three dishes in menu B we recieved three side dishes, which were sushi, ramen and ice cream. As well as an appetiser of fried anchovies full of umamo. Within the B menu was a veggie dish, a fish dish and a meat dish. The veggie dish was the best to us! We liked the ice cream the least, which was due to the mouth feel of ice crystals. By no means bad however. I felt like a scientist when pouring the dashi from the beaker over every dish. It was fun and tasty! We highly recommend taking some sake with the course, it really enhanced the dishes. The waitress advised Bon and we were surprised by the fact we were allowed to take the sake plate home as a souvenir. We didn't make a reservation and were able to eat straight away. If you're in the neighborhood, have a go! The staff is very friendly and patient. Knowing a little Japanese will help, but you will definitely be able to eat here if you don't know any. Absolutely worth every yen!

At the entrance of Higashi Chaya District and Kazue-machi Chaya District, there is a beautiful display resembling katsuobushi (dried bonito flakes), making it easy to spot. From the bright and white space on the first floor, as you climb the stairs to the second floor, the atmosphere becomes sacred and solemn. It’s wonderful to see the impressive beams and pillars that support the tea house architecture in the dim light. Seated in a tatami room, you choose a course. I opted for the D course, which included three bowls of soup, pressed sushi, finishing noodles, and even ice cream, providing great satisfaction. Each of the three bowls is enjoyed with dashi poured over them, and the taste of the dashi changes depending on the dish in the bowl, which is intriguing. It’s a meal that allows you to appreciate the wonderful culture of Japanese dashi. Being able to take home a sacred sake dish (kami-zara) also makes for a memorable souvenir of the trip. It felt both like a very leisurely experience and a very brief stay, a mysterious sensation. On the first floor, it seems you can enjoy Kanazawa oden, snacks, and tea. Thank you for the meal.
