Shabuzen Roppongiten

It used to be one of my favorite shabu restaurant but the service has dropped a lot and treating foreigner like nobody We booked a private room and when we turned up, they said it was not available. It happened twice already There were no email or call To inform us. Very poor service and disappo...inting

This is an update to my previous ¥5,000 all you can eat which was pretty good. Compared to the ¥5,000 there is more marbling (as seen in this picture) which means more flavor. Usually when you go to high end restaurants the meat they serve has too much marbling. The marbling on this meat was suffici...ent and being Shabu Shabu the fat is boiled and shrinks off. My friend took the cooked fat off (I think it’s the best part). Since this is Japan, the service was as expected, attentive and impeccable. The servers bringing the meat and vegetable when we emptied the plates. Sauces were replaced (not replenished). Knowing a little about shabu shabu this would be the extent of marbling I like. The next level up would probably be heavy marbling which is not my preference. Enjoyed it.

Our hosts organised a private room, with excellent service provided by kimono-clad women who worked quietly behind the scenes to bring as much meat and veg as we could manage, and to make the noodle soup at the end. The food was delicious, and the dipping sauces a highlight. At the end of our meal, ...as we left the restaurant, all the staff accompanied us outside and stood in a line, bowing as we walked away!

There was a lot of options and the staff were very friendly, but I never understood what was going on. As shabu shabu requires you to cook the food yourself, if done poorly it is underwhelming. As the staff did not speak english very well, and my japanese was even less it led to a confusing experien...ce where I wasn't able to make the most of the meal. Research well what sauces to use, and how to season the dish beforehand!

Picked this shabu shabu restaurant since it was close to the hotel we stayed at. They had their regular course for shabu shabu but our waitress suggested the “all you can eat”. There was the ¥5,000pp, ¥7,000 and upward depending on the quality of the meat. We were debating whether to try the ¥5,00...0 or ¥7,000 (more marbled) when the waitress offered that we can try the ¥5,000 but if we didn’t like it go to the ¥7,000. We tried the ¥5,000 course and found it to be good (similar to quality you would find stateside) and stayed with it. Since this is Japan, service was excellent (didn’t expect otherwise) even though I don’t think this restaurant would be considered in the top tier such as Zakuro or Seryna. Each time the dish of meat was consumed, a replacement came without asking. This was done with the vegetables also. It was a nice dinner. Will definitely go back again when in tokyo but will try the ¥7,000 course next time.
