Shouchiku

I have eaten at Shochiku 3 times--two of them days apart because I was dreaming of the food. Let me start with pointing out the lunch menu served from 11:30-2. I can not think of another restaurant of this caliber that is able to share such beautifully crafted food for such a reasonable value. With ...options ranging from 540 JPY (about $5 USD as of May 2019) to about 2400 JPY ($22) you will be thrilled by the flavors and the gorgeous presentation that Shochiku is known for with their dinner menu. My lunch favorite is the Anago Tendon, an expertly breaded eel served over rice with accompanying miso soup and pickles. The eel itself is ever so slightly sweet. There is free coffee and tea to accompany your lunch (if you have room after lunch, I loved the ahnmitsu, with its wonderful blend of fresh fruits, sweet red bean and mochi . Take time to enjoy the physical design of the restaurant by renowned Tokyo based Keiji Ashizawa. In this soothing and contemporary atmosphere, enjoy expertly crafted Japanese cuisine at its finest.
